18-Year-Old Nabbed For DUI After Wrong-Way Crash, CT State Police Say

A Connecticut teen has been charged for allegedly being drunk while driving the wrong way on a busy roadway and causing a crash that injured two.

The incident took place in Hartford County around 3:50 p.m., Thursday, March 24 on I-91 Exit 45 off-ramp in East Windsor,  Connecticut State Police said.

Tolland County resident Jaiden Henry Mcmanus, age 18, of Vernon, was arrested on Thursday by troopers.

Upon arrival to the scene, it was determined that Mcmanus, who was driving a 2021 Honda Passport southbound in the northbound off-ramp struck a 2011 GMC Sierra that was stopped at the traffic light head-on, state police said.

A passenger in the Mcmanus' car and the other driver were transported to Hartford Hospital to be treated for what troopers said appeared to be minor injuries.

A follow-up investigation found that Mcmanus was driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, state police said.

He was arrested and charged with:

  • Illegal operation of a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs
  • Failure to drive in the proper lane
  • Driving the wrong way on a divided highway 
  • Operating a motor vehicle without a license,

Mcmanus was released on a $1,000 non-surety bond.
